Welcome to Lulu McClatchy.com
Lulu McClatchy is an actress, writer, singer and comedian. Not necessarily in that order. Known around the globe for her larger than life alter ego “SuperGirly”, Lulu considers this character the one that gave her big break onto the international stage.
Lulu first started making her mark in the UK by writing and performing her SuperGirly live show taking the Edinburgh Festival by storm, then embarking on a string of UK tours, selling out night after night.
She was invited to perform at the Just for laughs festival GALA in Montreal in July 2001 alongside Megan Mullally ("Karen", Will and Grace). Lulu was personally requested to support Sir Elton John on the Australian leg of his 2002 World Tour.
After a string of TV shows in the UK including her own sitcom Lulu decided to return to Australia to try and conquer her home turf. She landed a memorable role as the wrestling love interest of Toadie, 'Genevieve "EVA" Doyle' on Neighbours. Then went on to guest star in numerous shows including ‘Blue Heelers’ and ‘Spicks and Specks’. She broke into the international film industry when she played the light hearted role of ‘Bonnie’ in Fox studios ‘Aquamarine’. And then went on to co star in the Australian ABC TV Movie ‘Valentine’s day’, playing the footy loving, drum playing ‘Barassi’..
Her most memorable role to date is playing the politically incorrect ‘Cassandra Downie’ in the SBS comedy musical ‘Bogan Pride’, a role she considers one of her all time favourites.
Lulu is looking forward to sinking her teeth into many more varied roles and continuing to keep people laughing with more SuperGirly shows to come. As well as acting, Lulu keeps herself busy writing various styles including being a season writer for ‘The Wedge’. Lulu is currently working on a stage play which will be released in Australia in late 2011. She also co stars in two films due for release in sept 2011, comedy "The Sunset Six' and thriller "6 Plots".
Feature Bogan Pride
Bogan Pride was an innovative new comedy series written, created and starring Rebel Wilson, and co starring Lulu McClatchy as the larger than life “Cassandra”. It was so popular when it debued on SBS in Oct 2008 it gave SBS the highest ratings for the year in it’s timeslot and jammed it’s website for downloads of it afterwards.
The show is directed by the Oscar nominated and IF award winning Peter Templeman and produced by Tony Ayres and Michael McMahon, who have both have previous AFI and IF award wins among other awards. Bogan Pride is the first musical comedy series in Australia in many years, and that, along with the primarily female cast makes it a refreshing, and it’s witty and politically incorrect script makes it edgy, yet heartfelt
It has been likened to other Australian hits like ‘Summer Heights High’ and ‘Kath and Kim’, and Lulu won rave reviews including TV Tonight who was quoted as saying “Lulu McClatchy upstages them all, a powder keg of energy and expression.” Bogan Pride series one is now available on DVD at all good DVD stores.
Feature Supergirly
"SUPERGIRLY" aka Lulu McClatchy, has decided that pop music has it coming and she's going to give it a good lashing. Combining strong vocals, wicked humor, clever writing, and leaving no artist left out, SuperGirly takes the piss out of music in a way that leaves you not only laughing from start to finish, but nodding in agreement and wondering why no one thought of this before.
